EMIL CHAU IN MALAYSIA!
27-29 MARCH 2003

Kuala Lumpur

Kuala Lumpur is an attractive, friendly city.
There's a lot to see and do —
and a lot of Wakin's albums in its shops!

Sigh*ning Session at Sungei Wang

Sungei Wang Signing Session

Fresh off the plane on our first-ever trip to Kuala Lumpur, we headed straight for the Sungei Wang shopping center, where Wakin was scheduled to appear for an evening signing session. Quite a throng had formed by the time we arrived, and it continued to balloon while we waited for Wakin to show up, which he finally did at around 8:45 p.m. Above, you can see Security Specialist Big Taylor standing protectively to the left of Wakin, who is seated at a table writing his autograph on the fans' "329 — All Out" CD covers. It was tough to get a good view of Wakin at that time, though — too much of a crowd.....

.....But as shown in these two shots (taken and kindly donated by an advantageously tall pal — arigatou!), Wakin did have some time to chat, joke and sing a little too. Everyone was obviously delighted~!

I had assumed as I lined up and was looking around that I would be incognito as a typical tourist. But when I finally got near to the table where Wakin sat scribbling, the woman MC suddenly swooped in and thrust her mike in my face — Yikes!!!
"I've heard * that you're a super Emil fan!" she gushed. "You wanna say something to him?" [Eh?!? He's plenty close enough for me to speak to without a microphone — Criminy!] I thought to myself and I answered, "Well … ermm … uhhh …"

Promotional Flyer

On our way toward the stadium, we saw men handing out this kind of Wakin concert promotional flyer. We tried getting a whole fistful of these when we could — one guy eagerly handed us a thick stack of his flyers and only afterward did we realize that they were simply a restaurant ad!

* B.T.!  Are you to blame? Hahaha!
